Fletcher Boats have always been popular in Scotland. Their tough construction and ability to cope with the rapidly changing conditions made them an obvious choice.
I met Sam and Steve from Caledonian Marine at last years Southampton Boat Show and they expressed an interest in selling Fletcher in Scotland. I had moved away from the ‘Delaership' model and was happy concentrating on dealing direct. However, they popped up again at this years show and this time persuaded me to come up and participate in their local show at Inverkip Marina.
As a true Sassenach I have rarely been out of reach of the M42 so it was a great excuse to venture ‘North of the Border'.
After a 6 hour drive towing the 19 GTS Wakesport I arrived at Inverkip and set up stall. Prosser Marine had a number of Fairlines and the odd Bayliner and Sam himself also deals with Yanmarin and RibEye and he had examples of each. There was also a couple of little Predator fishing boats and a huge selection of second hand craft.
The Wakesport was definitely the Sportsboat of the Show drawing many admiring glances and creating a good deal of interest. So much so that over dinner Sam and I agreed that he be appointed Official Distributer for Fletcher Boats in Scotland.
An engineer by trade Sam has a number of business interests and is ‘Mr Volvo' for Northern UK. Boats will be supplied as blanks and can then be fitted up with engines to customer requirements.
Loch Lomond is only a stone throw away and we are planning a launch event early next season in this truly magnificent setting. In the meantime Sam and Steve will be exhibiting at the Glasgow Leisure Show in early February. All sales enquiries to Steve on 01436 821184.
